  • Today grade 1 and 2's celebrated 100 Days in School 


If Ms. Standing was 100 years old, this is what she might look like



Students trying to count all the letters in our 100 Day Poem



  • Students worked on an art piece using primary colours
  • They were challenged to use 100 pieces of paper to create their name
  • Another challenge to the task was for them to create a pattern with the three colours. This could have been completed within each individual letter or letter by letter. 











Students tried a number of strategies to track the number of pieces they cut

  • Mathematicians are learning to build numbers using a variety of digits in order to compare, order and describe them using mathematical vocabulary








  • Today, we had our Friendship Assembly. The focus of the our assembly was to learn about lifting each other up.

  • We learned about the difference between climate and weather
Climate is the pattern of weather that occurs over time






Students had a chance to practice and use their new Climate and Weather Vocabulary

  • Today was book exchange day with Mrs. Reimer. Again, Mrs. Reimer picked thoughtful choices for room 1 students. 




  • Room One Readers had the opportunity to choose two books. 
    • A non-fiction book about Canadian animals 
    • A fiction book written by a Canadian author.

  • Each grade 1 and grade 2 student received a copy of Moira's Birthday by Robert Munsch and Art by Michael Martchenko from The Canadians Children's Book Centre. 



  • Ask your child about our first destination to Metehgan, Nova Scotia, Canada. 


  • Ask your child to show you their Patterning Jamboard from their Google account (Room1)

Learning Highlights:
  • Today we discussed and reviewed the terms: community, city, province and country 
  • We learned there are three Maritime provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island 














  • During our technology block, Mathematicians used Jamboard to make different types of patterns using their favourite clip art.
